Some more conclusions about serissas and their cold tolerance:

I think this may be of interest to members. Ireland doesn’t have chipmunks, but I’m sure there are other critters that like to live dangerously!
Again, I hope no one minds that I post a link to my blog so that I don’t have to re-type it all. (Admin, please let me know if you do mind.)

I agree that junipers can look fantastic, especially some of the yamadori that come from Japan and the western USA.
Unfortunately, over the years I’ve developed an allergy to junipers and have had to give them […]
Looks interesting! My only Android device is a Superpad (Chinese knockoff of Fly speck, but works well enough,) and that’s too big to carry around on my belt. But for those with smartphones, it would be worth having, I think.
This may be of interest to some here. I hope you don’t mind that I save myself some typing by just giving the link to my blog post — thanks! http://hoosierbonsai.blogspot.com/2012/01/well-that-didnt-work.html
Thanks for visiting my blog! Alain Bertrand (France) once used the pruning analogy just as you suggested it might be used. But actually, I didn’t mean to say any more than that bonsai has two essential, […]
I’m honored to have been invited to join this group. I’ll try to contribute from the other side of “the pond,” once I see how the group develops.
And if/when my wife and I get back to Ireland, I’ll […]
I have seen this tree for myself. It takes a lot to literally stop me in my tracks, but this tree nearly did. Splendid!
Well, I’m a son of the ”Irish Diaspora,” so the ”globally” applies to me, I suppose.
There’s a growing body of evidence that points to serissa being sub-tropical, even warm-temperate, rather than true tropicals. They tolerate some freezing, and appear to need an annual dormancy — at least a […]
Thanks, Paul! I’m interested to see how bonsai is doing in Ireland. The climate is so ideal for gardening to begin with!
Hi Steve
Welcome to the community!

Yep I agree about the climate, plenty of rain the past 24 hours.
Bonsai in Ireland is doing ok. Hard to say exactly as no clubs exist yet. The hope is that through this portal we can get people communicating more, that will eventually lead to a strong online Irish community. Not just in Ireland but globally.
